The
50 Centavos coin has appeared again! This time it is next to a French
105mm field gun and its 3 crew. The base represents the mud of France.
If you look carefully you can see 'brass' coloured spent shell cases
from when the gun has been fired.

Two
French tanks, both sitting on the famous 50c piece.
The
larger tank was well feared by the German troops. It has machine
guns (hidden by the smaller tank) half way along each side. The
tank would stop across a trench and fire the guns along it - soon
clearing it of troops.

A
French railway gun that fired a huge shell many scores of miles. I
had been fighting war games with someone who first appeared with a
1/300 scale spotting balloon - which allowed him to see all my troops
- even when 'hidden' in trenches. My reply was a squadron of biplanes.
He replied with a huge armada of bombers. So, one game, when it was
my turn to fire, the umpire put a 3 inch (7.5 cm) diameter cardboard
circle on my opponent's troops and declared that area no longer existed.
It was not until the game was over did I take him outside the room
to show him where, about 30 scale miles away, my railway gun was pounding
his troops 'over the horizon'. Well worth the effort!! |
