A totally different form of warfare, in many ways, these 1/300 scale World War 1 French give an idea of just how different!

 

Three biplanes from an American volunteer 'Escadrille' (squadron) fighting from French Airfields. Note the very unusual and distinctive camouflage markings. These were copied from black and white pictures of the time, taking the colours from the accompanying text.
