Cuirassier troopers and flag bearer with the officer (back left) looking towards us to see who is taking a picture! Called cuirassier because of the metal 'cuirass' worn on the chest and back - like medieval knights - these are armoured shock troops on heavy horses. Their swords are wider than other cavalry swords. |

Polish Lancers in their distinctive 5 cornered hats. These lancers were totally loyal to Napoleon and even followed him into exile to the Isle of Elba and acted as his personal guard. |

Two of the Polish Lancers. I have modelled another squadron of these lancers whose uniforms were white and pink. (If you go back and look at the picture of the cabinet in 'index.htm' you will see 6 of these pink/white uniformed lancers in the extreme left, 2nd from bottom section - with black lance handles). |
